Ephra x Yael Bartana (JMB)

The artistic works of Yael Bartana are about collective identities, memory culture and utopias. With her video works, the artist raises the question: What if everything were completely different? This is the question we have asked ourselves.

Children sit in front of a screen onto which a video work by the artist Yael Bartana is projected at the Jewish Museum Berlin.

The Jüdische Museum Berlin hosted the impressive show of works “Redemption Now” by Israeli artist Yael Bartana – with video works, light installations and photographs. The artist observes, documents, analyzes and invents public rituals, ceremonies and social practices designed to create collective identities. Her work is very much about memory culture and utopias – and the question: What if everything were completely different?

Together with the Young Ensemble from RambaZamba Theater, we asked ourselves the same question in a workshop. The result is the film “Megastau” (camera & editing: Itai Vinograd):

Building on the workshop, two more took place with the Biesalski Schule, as well as guided tours for people with visual impairments.
